Option : Community College Classes

If your high school doesn’t offer a specific AP science class or elective, you might be able to take a similar course at a local community college. This is also a convenient way to take higher-level science classes that most high schools don’t offer, such as advanced courses in biology, chemistry, or physics.

While taking a college-level class can be difficult, it’ll look great on your transcript and you’ll often get college credit for it. Talk to your guidance counselor to learn how to enroll in community college classes.

What Does Woke Mean In Politics

Every quarter, researchers at the Oxford English Dictionary survey the landscape and add new words to what is considered the standard dictionary by which we should abide. One of the words added in recent years is woke, which youre no doubt familiar with, but lets talk about what it really means and where it came from.

The latest OED update occurred in September of 2022, when terms like side hustlen. U.S. colloquial a part-time job or occupation undertaken in addition to ones main job in order to earn extra income)were added, and updates to words like influencern. A well-known or prominent person who uses the internet or social media to promote or generate interest in products, often for paymentwere implemented.

While there are many conflicting ideas as to whether or not slang belongs in the official dictionary, there is a clear process for how these words are added. The vigorous vetting process can see hundreds to thousands of words considered every quarter, and the underlying criteria are usage and consensusbut we have to remain cognizant of usage by whom.

Interesting, but were here to talk about woke.

woke, adjective: Originally: well-informed, up-to-date. Now chiefly: alert to racial or social discrimination and injustice frequently in stay woke.

No. All classes at the 1000 level are designated as non-majors courses. Additionally BIOL 2259, 2259 lab, 2273, and 2273 lab will not count towards the major in Biology. Please see the detailed course descriptions in the University catalog.

3. Which Biology classes count as electives?

Most courses at the 3000 level or above that are not core courses are considered Biology electives. Please note that certain electives have specific prerequisites. See the Undergraduate Catalog for more details.

4. How many Biology labs do I have to take?

All Biology majors must complete the two-credit BIOL 2140 lab and BIOL 3111 lab. If you are a B.A. major, you need 2 additional labs at the 3000/4000 level. If you are a B.S. major, you need 4 additional labs at the 3000/4000 level. Chemistry and Physics labs do not count towards your Biology lab requirements.

Water And Salt Balance

An animal’s body fluids have three properties: osmotic pressure, ionic composition, and volume. Osmotic pressures determine the direction of the diffusion of water , which moves from a region where osmotic pressure is low to a region where osmotic pressure is high. Aquatic animals are diverse with respect to their body fluid compositions and their environments. For example, most invertebrate animals in the ocean have body fluids that are isosmotic with seawater. In contrast, ocean bony fishes have body fluids that are hyposmotic to seawater. Finally, freshwater animals have body fluids that are hyperosmotic to fresh water. Typical ions that can be found in an animal’s body fluids are sodium, potassium, calcium, and chloride. The volume of body fluids can be regulated by excretion. Vertebrate animals have kidneys, which are excretory organs made up of tiny tubular structures called nephrons, which make urine from blood plasma. The kidneys’ primary function is to regulate the composition and volume of blood plasma by selectively removing material from the blood plasma itself. The ability of xeric animals such as kangaroo rats to minimize water loss by producing urine that is 10â20 times concentrated than their blood plasma allows them to adapt in desert environments that receive very little precipitation.

Woke As The New Pc Culture

The battle over the word woke is about more than language or a simple misunderstanding. Its a right-wing dog whistle to stifle discussion about institutional injustice. At the end of the day, all of this leads back to racism and anti-blackness. It was once called PC Culture, but in the contemporary discourse, wokeness has become inextricable from blackness. Therefore, when conservative pundits are fear-mongering over cancel culture and the woke mob, the dog whistles can be heard from a mile away. Today, woke is already seen as cringe by non-Black progressives, while its still being used in some Black communities in the hopes of restoring its original meaningwhile, as Kelly said, theres already something new to replace it.

What Does This Mean Muscle Has A High Power To Weight Ratio

Like, could someone explain what high power to weight ratio means? does that mean it requires high power to lift things?

    thank you!

Not my area but this is true of Tour de France winners. The men that win are usually very light weight and put out a higher power to weight ratio than their competitors in the mountains. The guys that win on the flat stages are big men that can crank huge horsepower but also weight a lot.

One reason the light weights perform better in the mountains is that they have more capillaries per cubic inch in their leg muscles.

You are focused on muscle and I am reporting whole body. It would be interesting to know what animals can power at higher PWRs than humans.

It means per pound, muscle can generate a lot of power.

It does, but it’s also kind of nonsense because fat, bone, and organs don’t generate any power. Power is force * distance/time = force*velocity = work / time. If nothing moves then you have no distance, velocity, work or power.

Power/weight matters in sports where weight is excess weight is harmful, so something like rock climbing. It ironically isn’t very useful in something like power lifting.

Power is energy per unit of time.

To move something from point A to point B, you need to produce a certain amount of energy.

To move from point A to point B at a certain speed , you need to produce a certain amount of energy per second. that’s power.

High power and low weight = high power to weight ratio.

A student pursuing an MB& B degree will satisfy most specific course requirements for medical schools as a consequence of fulfilling degree requirements. It is important to emphasize that while Advanced Placement courses may satisfy requirements to earn a MB& B degree, these do not substitute for the general requirements for medical schools stated above. For instance, if a student places out of Introductory Biology and Biology Lab with a sufficient score on an Advanced Placement Exam, the student must still take a course in Biology while in college to satisfy the medical school biology requirement. Note also that courses MB& B 300 and MB& B 301, Principles of Biochemistry are counted towards the chemistry and not the biology requirement for medical schools.

The quality points for a course are the product of the credit hours for the course and the grade point obtained by the student e.g., 3 credit hours with a grade of B = 3 credit hours x 3.0 = 9.0 quality points.

    Quality Point Total

The quality point total is the sum of quality points accumulated as students proceed through their program of studies.

    Grade Point Average

The grade point average is the quality point total divided by the total number of credit hours.
