Iit Jam Previous Eligibility Criteria
In the qualifying degree, the aggregate marks or CGPA/CPI without rounding-off should be at least 55% or 5.5 out of 10 for General/OBC category candidates and 50% or 5.0 out of 10 for SC/ST and PwD category candidates.
The aggregate marks or CGPA/CPI should be first-class marks or min. 55% aggregate marks or 5.5 out of 10, without rounding off for GENERAL & OBC Candidates in the qualifying degree.
Second class or min. 50% aggregate marks or 5.0 out of 10 without rounding off for SC/ST/PwD Candidates, in qualifying degree.
Difficulty Level Of The Questions Asked In Joint Admission Test
As per the IIT JAM Exam Analysis, conceptual and tricky questions are asked in the exam, which makes the paper a little different from the previous trends. In the last 2 years, formula-based questions were asked in the exam.

The IIT, Guwahati has released the application forms for the entrance test through the JOAPS portal online on July 22, 2022. Candidates are required to submit their JAM application form 2023 from September 7 to October 11, 2022, to ensure their candidature. They should register themselves to the portal by using their name, phone number, enrolment ID or email address and password to fill up the IIT JAM 2023 application form.
After the registration, candidates should fill in all important details, including their names, educational qualifications, contact details, address and other details to complete the JAM application form 2023. They can make payments for the application form through credit and debit cards, net banking and UPI or online payment applications. Any of the payment applications will be suitable for the exam fee payment.
After the payment process, candidates will receive a confirmation notification or SMS on their registered mobile number and an email on their registered email address.

Exam Pattern Of Iit Jam
The IIT JAM Examination will be carried out as ONLINE Computer Based Test where the candidates will be shown the questions in a random sequence on a computer screen. The duration of the examination will be 3 hours. The medium for the test paper will be English only. There will be a total of 60 questions carrying 100 marks. The entire paper will be divided into three sections, A, B, and C. All sections are compulsory. Questions in each section will be of different types as given below:
- In all sections, questions not attempted will result in zero marks. In section-A , the wrong answer will result in a negative. For each wrong answer of 1 mark questions, 1/3 mark will be deducted and similarly, for each wrong answer of 2 marks questions, 2/3 mark will be deducted. In Section B , there are no negative and no partial marking provisions. There is no negative marking in Section C as well.
Use of unfair means by a candidate in JAM, whether detected at the time of examination or at any other stage will lead to the cancellation of his/her candidature as well as disqualification of the candidate from appearing in JAM in the future.
The candidates are advised to visit the JAM website for more details on the patterns of questions for JAM, including examples of the questions. Candidates will also be able to take a mock examination through a Mock Test link that will be made available on the website closer to the examination date.

All admitted applicants must provide a Physical Fitness certificate from a qualified medical practitioner in the prescribed form at the time of admission. At the time of admission, admitted applicants may be required to undergo a Physical Fitness test conducted by a medical board appointed by the Admitting Institute. If candidates are found physically unfit to pursue their chosen course of study, their admission may be cancelled.

From the year 2017, IIT JAM Examination conducted online for all Test Papers as a Computer-based Test . All of the papers of JAM will be of Objective Type with 3 different patterns of questions which are given below:
1. Multiple Choice Questions : Under this MCQ section, each question has four choices out of which only one choice is correct.
2. Multiple Select Questions : MSQ section is more or less common with an upper section with the only difference that in this type of question more than one option may be correct.
3. Numerical Answer Type Question: In this type of question you have to type answers with the help of a virtual keypad on the monitor.
