If you do not pass, you can reschedule up to two times a year to retake any or all of the tests. You need to score on each of the four tests individually. A College Ready score can indicate to a college that you may not need placement testing or remediation before beginning a college degree program. Different questions have different point values. ## All Ged Math Resources

The Mathematical Reasoning section of the 2014 GED may seem intimidating, particularly if you havent taken high-school-level mathematics courses in a few years or a few decades. However, the GED only tests basic math concepts: your ability to work with numbers, decode story problems, analyze data, and solve algebra and geometry problems. Concepts specific to calculus or trigonometry are not included, and you can use an on-screen calculator for most of the questions.

The GEDs Math test is a single section composed of forty-six problems 115 minutes are allotted for it, giving you two-and-a-half minutes to solve each problem. The on-screen calculator is not available to be used while answering the first five questions after completing these, the calculator can be used for the remaining forty-one questions.

While preparing for the GEDs Math section, practice using different methods to answer the question. The GED and other standardized tests often choose problems that can be solved in different ways. Take advantage of the calculator and the multiple choice answers when tackling questions. For example, if the question only includes variables , you may want to plug in real numbers to make calculation much easier and avoid having to work with abstract algebra. Also, make sure you read each question fully and carefully to see what is being asked in many cases, interpreting a question incorrectly will lead you to choose or enter the wrong answer.

## Do Ged Test Scores Expire

When you receive your GED passing score, after all, five test sections of a GED diploma are completed, like a high school diploma, the GED does not expire. However, individual section scores do expire when a new GED scoring system is adopted to meet the new national requirements. For example, if you passed some sections of the GED test and the old system is expired, then you must retake all sections of the GED.

## On The Ged Answers Equal Points But How Many Points Are In Each Section

To summarize: One answer equals one point on the GED, but one question can sometimes have more than one answer. So what you really need to know is how many points and answers there are on each of the four sections of the GED, and what percentage of answers you need to get right.

Remember that one answer is worth one raw score point. So first, lets look at the number of raw score points in each section:

**Mathematical Reasoning:**49 points**Social Studies:**30 points**Reasoning Through Language Arts:**65 points

Two sections of the GED have more answers than it has questions. GED Mathematical Reasoning has 46 questions, but 49 answers/points. The Science Section for this test has 34 questions, but a total of 40 answers.

With Social Studies, the ratio of questions to answers is a bit confusing. Here, some questions, usually single-answer questions, are worth *less* than one raw point. The GED Social Studies section has 35 questions, but just 30 raw points. So the questions are only worth 30 answers, since simpler questions count as less than one answer/point.

Now, you could try to carefully spot the simpler answers and guess at the point weight of the more complicated ones. But its probably more helpful to just think of the average point weight per question in GED Social Studies. Each Social Studies question is worth 0.87 answers/raw points on average. Round up and think of each Social Studies question as being worth roughly one point or being worth roughly one answer.

**1. There are 1,000,000 kb in GB. Guy has 29 GB of storage on his computer. He has a lot of picture files of about 78kb. What is the maximum number of such pictures he can store on his computer?**

300,000

**Answer: C**

**Explanation**: Write the problem vertically with the larger number on top. Multiply one digit at a time starting with the ones column. 7 × 5 = 35. Write down the 5 and carry the 3 to the tens column. 7 × 4 = 28 and 28 + 3 = 31. Write down the 31 to the left of the 5. 45 × 7 = 315

**8. Chris purchased 10 maple trees, 6 oak trees, and some pine trees from the nursery. There is a 3 to 5 ratio of maple trees to pine trees. Which of the following numbers in the problem are needed to find the total number of pine trees that Chris purchased?**

10, 3, and 5 only

10, 6, 3, and 5

3 and 5 only

6, 3, and 5 only

**Answer: A**

**Explanation**: In order to find the actual number of pine trees, you need the initial ratio, plus one actual number. The initial ratio of maple trees to pine trees is 3 to 5, and the actual number of maple trees is 10. You do not need the fact that there were oak trees purchased. This piece of information does nothing to help you solve the ratio involving maple trees and pine trees.

**9. The heights of the five starters on the basketball team are 67 inches, 71 inches, 79 inches, 70 inches, and 79 inches. What is their median height, in inches?**
