Next, go on to Metals. Spend some time to familiarise yourself with alloys & rusting. Then move on to the metal reaction with water & acid . The more difficult ones will be the blast furnace but do not neglect thermal stability of your compounds!
Do note that O levels like to test the recycling and environmental concerns too!

Perfect Practice makes Perfect Whenever you do your practice tests / passages, always work under test-day conditions. That means eliminate all distractions, turn off the music, and make sure youre in a quiet place where nobody can disturb you. If possible, do the practice on a computer but a paper copy is fine too. Always time yourself with the same test-day timing and never let yourself go over the time limit. Always stop once time runs around. You want it to be as close to test day conditions as possible.

Start off with acid & bases. Be familiar with the 3 acid reactions and the 2 alkaline reactions. Be certain of the difference between bases & alkaline as well! Lastly, try to understand the difference between strength, concentration & basicity.

Next, spend time to be familiar with the salt solubility table and understand 3 different salt preparation methods. It is extra important to understand when you use which method to prepare certain salts.

Lastly, study the test for cations, anions & gases. Most teachers tend to ask students to just memorise but I disagree. Look closely and understand the relationship between amphoteric oxides & test for cations. Understand that the test for anions is directly related to insoluble salts.

But do note that studying the content is one thing, practicing and being able to apply to questions is even more important! So take out your TYS and dedicate yourself to the practices!

Ask Lots And Lots Of Questions
Scientists ask questions – all the time! Especially WHY! Instructors always appreciate when students ask questions because it shows they are listening and really thinking about the material.
- Ask what does that really mean? in each section while you read the chapter.
- Ask why of a problem as you decide what it is asking and how to solve it.
Ask questions about the lecture and section material. If you are reviewing material on your own write these questions down. If you can answer them on your own, great! If you are stuck, then take them along with you to office hours or a study group. Then you wont forget and youll make sure you get a more thorough understanding of everything.
Jump In With Both Feet
As with other challenging subjects, including biology, jumping in with both feet is key to your success studying and learning chemistry. Partial efforts don’t cut it. Decided now that you’re going to succeed in chemistry and that you’re going to give it your all.
