So far Ive come up with a list .

Heres the total list : note my italic comments below each one, because some just needed to be discussed

All goofing aside, eventually these cute kids are going to need to look polished and professional for a college admissions board. They are smart, but I want to make sure they have a lot more good things packed away in those minds and hearts before mama has to watch them roll down the driveway with college stars in their eyes. Sniff, sniff.

Depending on what college your kid is interested in attending, I would check with the general admission requirements and the requirements for a particular major/minor program also. According to one of the links below, most colleges require these basics

  • English: 4 years
  • Science: 2 3 years
  • Social Studies : 2 to 3 years

What Kinds Of Courses Will Get Me A Bachelors Degree

As I mentioned before, you cant just sign up for whatever course tickles your fancy and expect it to fit into your degree. A bachelors degree is a highly-structured form of study. Most colleges want to ensure their students have a good foundation in the liberal arts while also digging deeply into whatever major youve chosen to study. That adds up to a fairly specific arrangement of courses in order to qualify for graduation.

Almost any college you choose will split your bachelors degree into 3 basic sections:

How Hard Is A Biology Major

A biology major is quite hard. Most biology courses are lengthy, complex, and have lots of unfamiliar concepts and vocabulary. The difficulty of a biology major depends on the compulsory core courses offered by your college, the advanced courses you choose, and how competitive your university is in general.

A biology major usually requires 10-15 core courses. Other than that, you will also need to take several general electives and advanced courses in order to graduate.

Typically a biology major has the following core courses:

  • Introductory Biology: Cell and Development Biology
  • Introductory Biology: Comparative Physiology
  • Introductory Biology: Ecology and the Environment
  • Investigative Biology Laboratory
  • An Introduction to Evolutionary Biology and Diversity
  • General Chemistry I
  • Introduction to Organic and Biological Chemistry
  • General Physics I
  • Genetics and Genomics
  • Principles of Biochemistry

As you can see for yourself, most of the core courses in a biology major are introductory in nature. Not only will you be introduced to biology but also chemistry, physics, and maths.

The maths required in biology is not particularly difficult. Apart from a Calculus and Stats course, maths in other classes is quite easy. Most students have no issue with the level of maths needed to pursue a biology degree.

Frequently Asked Questions About Bachelor’s In Biology Programs

How much does Noah Munck earn? Net worth, Bio, Age ...

To determine whether this online bachelor’s is worth the cost, you should consider both the cost of the program and the salary you expect to receive after graduation. If you plan to use your biology degree as a stepping stone to a more advanced degree, consider the cost of both degrees. How long will it take you to earn back the investment in your education?

Another way to look at this is by considering how much debt you will accumulate and how long it will take to pay it back. If most of your education will be covered by student aid, you’ll be much better off than if you’re planning on financing it through student loans.

A bachelor’s in biology can help qualify you for jobs such as clinical laboratory technologist, elementary school teacher, biological technician, zoologist, wildlife biologist, or microbiologist. The median salary for these jobs ranges from $46,340 per year for a biological technician to $84,400 for a microbiologist.

Many students who earn a bachelor’s degree in biology opt to continue their education. Some earn nursing degrees in order to become registered nurses, while others go on to medical school. Those who want to teach at the postsecondary level typically need a Ph.D. in biology.

The BLS projects that the demand for postsecondary biological teachers will increase 13% from 2020-2030. This is much faster than average. The BLS projects the creation of about 8,000 new jobs for these postsecondary teachers from 2020-2030.

Why Should I Care How My Bachelors Degree Is Structured

If youre planning to let an over-worked and underpaid college advisor hand you a pre-made plan which tells you exactly what to do, what to take, and how much money to waste by going to college the traditional way, then you really dont need to know how your bachelors degree is structured. Go ahead and sign up and complete your courses. You will walk away with a decent education, but youll just have spent a lot more time and money getting it than you otherwise could have.

If, on the other hand, youre interested in outsmarting the college system , then understanding how your degree is structured is absolutely invaluable.

Why? Because one of the best ways to save money on college is by transferring credit. Theres a myriad of ways to earn college credit that will save you thousands of dollars on your degree. Community college, CLEP, DSST, and affordable online courses are just a few examples. Trust me, if you want to save money on college, the best thing you can do is understand what exactly you need to graduate and find a way to earn that credit somewhere else. Then, once youve earned as much credit outside of your chosen college as possible, transfer it all in to complete the degree.

Doing college this way may sound a little unorthodox, and it is. But trust me. Weve helped thousands of students graduate debt free using this simple method. It works.
