What Are The Easiest College Classes

Is Harvard’s Math 55 the hardest Math course in America?

While there are no definitive classes that will consistently be easy, some courses are traditionally considered less demanding:

  • Introduction to Physical Education, which goes over basic health techniques such as how to lift weights properly and the ingestion and burning of calories, comes in at the top of our list.
  • Music Appreciation, sometimes called Clapping for Credit, is also right up there.
  • A basic math course, surprisingly, can actually be an easy way to earn credits. Basic math might simply comprise the development and appreciation of mathematical ideas rather than their application.
  • While astrophysics is demanding , an introductory astronomy course can be fun and relaxed, offering students a chance to peer through telescopes and learn about the constellations.
  • At art-focused schools, a film studies or art history course may not be a quick A, but at those institutions where the arts arent the concentration, it can be a great way to become a cinephile or art critic without having to work too hard.
  • Other easy college classes to consider are an intro sociology course, a general psychology class or a beginners foreign language course, all of which will cover the basics of the topic, but generally wont get too in-depth.

Easiest Natural Science Classes To Take In College

Perhaps the title 7 easiest natural science classes to take in college sounds a bit weird if you think there isnt anything easy about science classes, but it turned out the other way. Actually, it seems that plenty of students would recommend taking some of them if you need extra points.

But, lets start from the beginning. When talking about the easiest science class in college, we definitely dont have the easiest science majors in mind. If a course is a major, theres hardly anything breezy about it. And if you have already enrolled to study science, youre going to pick what interests you the most, regardless of what everybody else is saying. Who cares about genetics and disease if its really solutions and experiments that warm your heart? It definitely requires a lot of time and effort to obtain the highest grade, but its very rewarding. On the other hand, if its your obligation to opt for one of the science classes, our list is going to be very helpful. Otherwise, you wouldve gladly taken up one of 10 easiest liberal arts classes to take, or 10 easiest humanities classes to take in college.

What Is Easier Algebra 1 Or Geometry

So, if you like logic puzzles and have the patience to wrestle with proofs, then geometry is easier than algebra 1. I personally found algebra 1 easier because it was the same number manipulations over and over again. Geometry required critical thinking I wasnt used to using in math and it took me by surprise.

Standard High School Math Curriculum

Calculus challenges seniors The Red Ledger

Most high schools require students to take three years of math in order to graduate and recommend taking four years. These requirements often also include completing an algebra class and a geometry class.

Forty-five states have agreed to follow Common Core standards for math, which aim to create a more standardized math curriculum across the country. The Common Core standards state that six content categories should be covered in high school math classes:

  • Algebra
  • Pre-Calculus
  • Calculus

However, this order is definitely not set in stone. Some schools teach algebra 1 and 2 back-to-back then move on to geometry, some schools include trigonometry with geometry or pre-calculus instead of algebra 2, and some students take pre-algebra or a similar course if they need to strengthen their math skills before taking algebra 1. However, most high schools follow a course order similar to the one above for their math classes.

The math class you take freshman year will be chosen based on your previous math classes and any placement tests you may have taken before starting high school. So, if you already took algebra 1 in 8th grade, you may be able to start with geometry as a freshman and continue down the list from there. Also, not every high school student takes pre-calculus or calculus.

You Can’t Double Major If You’re Taking Math 55

Those who plan on enrolling in Math 55 are warned that math must be their thing. This is not a class for dilettantes looking to major in philosophy or squeeze in some political science on the side. As the freshman guide warns, Math 55 is only for those who “are fairly certain that you want to be a math concentrator” and who “want math to be your most important class.”

How We Made This List Of The Hardest/easiest College Courses

Linear Algebra – Full College Course

To create this list, we took into account:

  • The courses general reputation
  • How frequently and in which contexts the course is required
  • The time necessary for coursework and studying

Its important to remember that courses may be more or less challenging depending on the school and instructor no two are identical. Bear in mind, too, that some subjects come more easily to certain people than others. Just as quantum physics might be a breeze for a math- and science-minded student, that same student might find the writing in film studies challenging.
