The Format Of The Acs Exam In Gen Chem

The format of the ACS Exam is 2 hour time limit, 70 multiple choice questions, on a scantron. You are allowed a non-programmable calculator and 1 sheet of blank white paper. Also, 2 sharpened #2 pencils.

People that do really well in chemistry and understand it well, typically do good on the final exam and says that it’s easy. Because honestly, if you know your stuff really well, it IS pretty easy.

However, for everyone else , it is an incredibly difficult test.

Solve The Last Page First

As we are usually panicking when the test starts, a better idea is to solve the last page of the ACS exam first. The last page contains some lab instruction questions and others that are quick and easy to solve. In this way, you will answer the easier ones first and control your nerves until you reach the others.

However, make sure not to mess up the numbering on the scantron.

Acs Study Materials For The Chemistry Finals

The American Chemical Society has provided a booklet that you can buy for about $25. It’s a little helpful, kind of low quality print, and sounds like it was written by a PhD chemist. Guess what? It was written by a lot of PhD chemists. So, I recommend you use it, no matter how ripped off you feel.

However, I do recommend that you take an ACS general chemistry practice exam. There is a good one that has video solutions for the questions. The approach is a lot better than paragraphs of PhD theory that the book provides . This was my favorite study material for preparing for the exam.

Simply put, the ACS is a standardized test for organic chemistry:
