I Think Khan Academy Is Better For Learning Than Prodigy
Prodigy is more of a game than about learning math. By the way, Most of the Prodigy math questions are pretty easy, And some of them are not even matching for your grade. I think people like Prodigy better because it is about having fun, And many people doesn’t like math. The reason I know this is because I use both Prodigy and Khan Academy. One thing I noticed is that Prodigy doesn’t give videos all the time when you don’t know a question, Unlike Khan Academy, Which can give you videos whenever you want. Another thing I noticed that Prodigy and Khan Academy might be related because they have the same sound affect (In Prodigy, You get the math question right, And in Khan Academy, If you level up or if it shows your score after a test. I only started playing Prodigy about a month ago, And I play it for free time. In other words, I use Khan Academy for learning and it is better
Nothing Cool About This Game Anymore : /
I LOVED prodigy when I first started in first grade, but it just.. lost its flavor. What I mean is, the old chatting system gets boring, the quests get too easy, people become weirder and weirder with the latest fashion trends, and overall, I dont think I really like it anymore. Only like 20% of the game is available to non-members, and the other 80% is only membership stuff! Members, members, members.. I bought the membership, I liked it, but when the membership ended, it got B-O-R-I-N-G again, plus, we cant chat freely! Look, I get it, but you dont have to restrain us to those dull words you gave us! And there isnt trading Plus, there are monsters absolutely, EVERYWHERE, AND 99.9% OF THE PETS ARE FOR MEMBERS!!! And there are only like, 3 fireflies every week, it just gets boring! Im too old for this game, but I quit a looooong time ago, the game now, is more boring than earlier versions! And like I said, the game just lost its flavor, so if you enjoy math for grades 1-8 go for it I guess, but be warned, ALMOST EVERYTHING ACTUALLY FUN, LIKE THE DARK TOWER, REQUIRES A MEMBERSHIP THAT COSTS $60 PER YEAR!!! Its also a SCAM so actually, no p. Goodbye thank u for reading.

How Prodigy Education Started
When we created our first product Prodigy Math Game as engineering students at the University of Waterloo, our goal was to make learning math as engaging as playing a video game. That was a very personal motivation, born of our own frustrations in learning math as kids .
Ultimately, we wanted to create something that would help every student in the world love learning, and that remains Prodigys mission today.
This sentiment was very much at the heart of our initial design. At that point, our math game looked VERY raw , but the basic game mechanism was there. Following an 18-month testing period, where we spent countless hours in classrooms listening to what teachers and students wanted from an educational game, we were ready to officially launch Prodigy Math Game.
The schools that first adopted us were predominantly those that didnt have the resources to access other online math products to supplement classroom learning. They quickly gravitated to Prodigy and we think this was for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, wed built an incredible product based on direct feedback from educators and students. This user-obsessed approach is still one of Prodigys cultural values today.
Secondly, we made sure our educational content was as accessible as possible. All in-game math content is free, and teachers can also access no-cost tools to help them support their students effectively. Weve always believed that access to education should be a basic human right.
Virtual Swag Is Social Currency In Prodigy
Prodigy is an internet-connected, interactive, gamified math platform where kids customized characters explore fantasy worlds and children answer math questions to battle opponents.
Prodigy Education has attracted educators and parents by providing a free in-school version of the game and crowing that Prodigy will be free forever and no cost, ever. That would be misleading even if Prodigy made the claim with an asterisk and a small print disclaimer, because when kids play the free version at home, they are assaulted with ads and persuasive design that relentlessly promote a Premium membership, at a price of 60 to 100 US dollars per year per child. Luring schools and parents by saying Prodigy is always free, without even an asterisk? Thats what we would call a whopper.
Prodigy also deceptively markets itself to both educators and parents as an effective educational tool, promising to build essential math skills and improve grades and test scores.
Prodigy is one of the most popular math games used by schools across the country. Its also one of the most manipulative.
The game is also replete with shopping and social media distractions. The Johns Hopkins research noted: students spend time dressing their avatar, rearranging their house, traveling or wandering around various rooms or worlds, swapping out tools and/or reviewing options available for purchase with gems. Virtual swag is social currency in this game.

A GTA online company that has turned math education into a video game for millions of children worldwide has raised $159-million from U.S. private-equity giant TPG and the Canadian Business Growth Fund .
Oakville, Ont.-based Prodigy Education Inc, which had previously raised just $15-million in institutional capital from CBGF in 2019, said the new funds would fuel a hiring spree, with plans to double in size to 800 people this year. Were planning on growing very aggressively with this fundraise and pursue our mission of helping every student in the world love learning, co-chief executive officer Rohan Mahimker said in an interview.
Mr. Mahimker and co-CEO Alex Peters, both 32, began building the company as a school project a decade ago when they were students in the University of Waterloos mechatronics engineering program. Our original idea was to create the worlds first emotionally responsive educational math game using facial recognition software, and later biometric monitors to observe how children responded to the games, Mr. Peters said.
Editors note: The spelling of TPG partner David Trujillo’s last name has been corrected in the online version of this story.

It’s good but you need membership to do stuff. Make everything free. You don’t need membership but you’re gonna want it. It’s just a money-grab for parents. I ended up getting membership also because the bragging. It’s an online game, and I’m pretty sure that reason is so you see people with membership, be jealous and buy it too.

Prodigy Math Game Is One Of North America’s Most Popular Classroom Tools Here’s What Educators Have To Say
“Whats interesting is how much it’s been used outside of school, not just inside the confines of the classroom… It’s the students who want to do it. It’s a motivating factor that the students love it.”
“Often our students arent as confident in math. Im happy that through the use of Prodigy and the support of teachers, confidence is increasing.”
“Prodigy translates to a love of math. Were using it because its adaptive, and students are working at their level in their zone of proximal development.”
Prodigy Is Unclear Khan Academy Is Way Better
Khan academy actually shows your progress and has videos that explain if you need it. Prodigy has a little explanation and most of the time it doesn’t help because of how little they explained it. My brother always has to ask me or my mom for help. Khan Academy has examples and the person explaining it actually has a good explanation. Also, They made so much of the game for only members, Being a member means you have to pay, And Khan Academy is FREE! In conclusion I would say that Khan Academy is a better option to go to learn other than prodigy.

Off The Cuff: Alex Peters Co
A graduate of mechatronics engineering at the University of Waterloo, Alex Peters has loved math since elementary school. Unfortunately, not all elementary school students enjoy and excel at math, and these students tend to avoid higher education in math-related fields.
Alex and his co-CEO, Rohan Mahimker, started prodigygame.com to create a more engaging learning experience for students who struggle with math. Their math game, Prodigy, transforms students into young wizards who must defeat horrendous monsters by answering a series of math questions. After every successful battle, the childs wizard receives experience points, which can be used to upgrade his or her spells and costumes.
The game can also actively adapt to the childs emotions and success level. If the child is struggling with a particular range of questions, the game will automatically reduce difficulty to reinforce his or her confidence. If the child is easily completing the questions, the difficulty of the problems will increase.
Alex and Rohan are working to promote learning and academic engagement, one spell at a time!

What Are The Features & Benefits Of Prodigy?
No Complaints Its Just
Hi! I have no complaints about the game, its just that on EVERYTHING I click it says buy the membership, I thought about it. And a person I knew let me buy it. Im not sure if its my computer? Or the game the my computer went off the game went away my computer went SHHHH like the glitch noise, my family thought it was broken but I tried shutting it down and it worked again! Also can you try to not put monsters EVERYWHERE? And please put more outfits in the outfit and hat shop please! And try not to give us REALLY hard questions its confusing some times … Prodigy is VERY great Im just confused of why its 9+ its a math game. And PLEASE let us type our own stuff because sometimes I need help with something and it wont let us say How did you get that? So let us chat our own words please. Also, I would recommend putting more membership boxes in locations! Also I have another suggestion! I recommend you put more fireflies in Floras Forest. Overall Prodigy is a very wonderful game. Also, I have much more to tell. First, what is true use of gold if we buy everything in the outfit shop? I almost have everything in there and Im not sure what to buy now? Also, try to make new outfits on the Lava island. Last suggestion! Please fix the hats its a little annoying and weird when the girls hair is inside the hat and not showing. AND PLEASE MAKE THE EPICS AVAILABLE! I WILL BE SOOO MAD IF YOU DONT! Thank you, please read this.
