What I Love Most About The Refreshed High School Geometry Course
posted on Educators
Salutations! My name is Charlotte, and Im part of the US mathematics content team at Khan Academy. When I was using Khan Academy with my own high school geometry students, I loved many aspects of the course, but there were parts where my students and I wished we could dig deeper. My students loved how Khan Academy let them show what they knew in a few problems and showed just how to solve the questions where they were still learning. However, they had to look elsewhere for practice in key geometry skills like writing proofs. So, Im thrilled to announce that weve updated our high school geometry course for this school year!
Here are some of the ways were bringing the concepts of reasoning and justificationwhich in geometry means explaining why you are sure something is trueto the forefront and tightening our focus so students have just the right amount of support and challenge.

How Should I Use The Ngss Courses
Our HS Biology and Physics courses were built as a supplement for NGSS classrooms. They are not intended to be used as standalone resources.
- Size of the courses: We’ve included enough content to be completed to proficiency in one school year if used as a supplement one period weekly.
- Implementation suggestion: Assign for pre-work/warm-up or gap-filling to inform your in-class investigations/projects.
Over the next 1-2 years, we’ll be combining our older high school Biology and Physics courses with their newer NGSS counterparts into standalone courses that meet as many of our users’ needs as possible while covering as many standards as possible.
What about non-AP High School Chemistry, you may ask? Yes, we’re planning to publish a new High School Chemistry course next summer. Were eager to hear your feedback, so please let us know what you think via this short and sweet feedback form.
